489 *Citizenship-By-Investment and Residency-By-Investment Schemes: Can individuals acquire citizenship, passports or residency status in exchange for an investment or another payment without a prior requirement to spend more than 2 years in the jurisdiction? Yes
 Data Date: 2019

Notes

According to the Ministry of Finance, individuals cannot acquire residency or citizenship status in exchange for an investment without a requirement to spend more than 2 years in the jurisdiction. Indeed, the temporary residence permits issued against an investment of 200.000 USD have a prior requirement of physical presence for 183 days per year. However, foreign citizens who invest more than 30 million new Taiwanese dollars (approximately 960.000 USD) qualify for the Plum Blossom Card, which grants permanent residence without physical presence requirement.
