"Section 64 of the Banking Act establishes a duty of confidentiality on all bank personnel who, by virtue of their professional responsibilities, have access to the books,accounts, records, financial statements or other documents of a financial institution" (GF 2017: 89). "Any person who contravenes this section [on confidentiality] shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding one million rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years" (Bank of Mauritius Act, Section 26; [TJN-Note]).
